Integration for Future Vehicle

― Integrating the values of safety, comfort, and environment to expand future mobility spaces―

Toyota Boshoku provides solutions to realize spaces that pursue comfort, with safety and the environment as fundamental prerequisites. Toward 2030, we aim to create new value as an “Interior Space Creator.”

In this exhibition, we introduce an all-new cabin space by integrating values such as safety, comfort, and the environment. By doing so, we expand our value proposition from individual components to the entire cabin space.

Main Exhibits

Here are the main exhibits we showcased at Automotive Engineering Exposition 2026.

[ I.C.30 -Integrated Cabin 2030- ]

A mobility interior space that stays close to you

I.C.30 is a mobility interior space concept in which in-cabin functions—such as seats, sound, thermal comfort, and lighting—are coordinated and controlled as one system, allowing the entire space to change naturally according to the occupants’ condition, the surrounding environment, and the driving situations.

As in-car needs diversify, the cabin is evolving from “a place for driving” into “a space to spend time.”

With I.C.30, we enhance ride comfort and a sense of security by accommodating a wide range of seating postures. By designing the entire cabin as a single system, experiences centered on safety, the environment, and comfort transition seamlessly in response to the occupants’ condition and driving situations—realizing a people-centric cabin space.

In addition, elements such as sound, thermal comfort, and lighting are delivered in a coordinated way depending on the surrounding context, enabling occupants to feel the cabin transform through a continuous journey—from relaxing after boarding, to spending time with peace of mind, to experiences that lift their mood.

We see this sequence of experiences as value. As a system that integrates safety, the environment, and comfort, I.C.30 transforms travel time into a comfortable experience that adapts to your situation and mood.

This seat features a structure in which the backrest, seat cushion, and side bolsters can be divided into individual blocks.

With a design that supports the occupant’s driving posture—such as enhanced body pressure distribution and reduced body movement in lateral and longitudinal directions to improve stability while driving—it delivers comfortable ride comfort.

In addition, it can be efficiently disassembled during recycling, reducing dismantling time. By incorporating base resin into each block and reducing the amount of urethane accordingly, the seat contributes to shorter dismantling time and contributes to reducing CO2 emissions compared with conventional products.

Furthermore, through various combinations, we aim to realize a wide range of design expressions as well as customization and personalization tailored to different body types and preferences.

  • The ability to replace components block by block is a great feature. I would also appreciate proposals that use materials resistant to dirt and stains.by a commercial vehicle manufacturer
  • Customization seems well suited to subscription services. It would be great if colors and shapes could be changed easily.by an automotive parts manufacturer
  • We have previously attempted modularization as part of our carbon neutrality initiatives but faced challenges due to an increase in the number of parts. It is impressive that this issue has been successfully addressed.by an automotive parts manufacturer

[ Infotainment seat ]

Alerting the driver without being drowned out by ambient noise

Even in situations where conventional meter warning sounds may be drowned out by various noises inside and outside the vehicle, combining audio delivered through headrest-integrated speakers with seat-cushion vibration ensures that important alerts—such as lane departure or inattention to the road ahead—are reliably conveyed to the driver.

To prevent missed warnings when alerts are difficult to hear, the system aims to make warnings easier to notice by using both near-ear audio and seat vibration, stimulating both the senses of hearing and touch.

By allowing sound and vibration to complement each other, it enhances the driver’s awareness of critical alerts and supports an environment in which the driver can notice important warnings immediately and quickly make decisions and take action.

Visitor Comments

  • I found the idea of driving while engaging all five senses to be very interesting.by an automaker
  • The use of vibration as a safety alert feels like an idea that has surprisingly not been explored much before.by an automotive parts manufacturer
  • We conduct research on how to effectively convey vibrations to people, and we would be interested in collaborating on this.by a university researcher

[ PET Circular Economy ]

Mitigating global warming and resource circulation

With future resource circulation of interior parts derived from ELVs (End-of-Life Vehicles) around 2045–2050 in mind, we aim to establish products and technologies that enable resource circulation for automotive interior parts primarily made of polyester.

Conventional materials often use a multilayer structure consisting of PET nonwoven fabric and a PE resin layer. However, because separating these materials is difficult, recyclability has been a major challenge, and production scrap and ELV-derived parts have often been incinerated or otherwise thermally processed (e.g., used as fuel), resulting in CO2 emissions.

To address this, we replaced PE with copolymerized PET (Co-PET) to convert parts into PET monomaterial, and achieved horizontal (closed-loop) recycling by reusing scrap as recycled polyester fiber. As a result, we are reducing life-cycle CO2 emissions by approximately 30%.

Going forward, taking into account the challenge that cross-OEM sorting at dismantling sites is difficult, we will promote the PET Circular Economy by expanding the range of applicable parts and strengthening industry-wide collaboration.

To meet the expectations of customers worldwide, Toyota Boshoku continuously delivers high-quality products in a stable and reliable manner through close collaboration among its global and regional bases.
Here are some examples of such products.

In seat products, we offer a wide range of devices focused on comfort, including manual core devices that achieve both lightweight construction and high durability, as well as power core devices that deliver smooth and quiet operation.

In interior products, we also introduce a surface-emitting illuminated door trim that enhances cabin comfort through lighting presentation, and core-back foaming technology that enables both weight reduction and impact resistance in door trims.
